So I have started looping and I was very unsure about taking my rig through airport security. To the point of even leaving it at home and going back to my old pump. I asked a few friends who loop and they have been on many flights with no issues. So that calmed me down a bit.

Standing in the queue for airport security I saw a woman in front of me with a plastic Tupperware tub. I thought that’s a bit weird and looked again and saw she had a glucogon injection in there. Oh she was one of those good Diabetics. For a moment and only a moment I thought about doing that for my next trip and then realized I have been traveling for 12 years with D and haven’t really ever had any issues with leaving my stuff in my handbag.

I was getting pretty anxious at this stage but decided with all the Diabetes kit/supplies that I had in my bag I would be fine. They can’t refuse someone for a medical device and if they were experts in security they should be able to tell the difference between a raspberry pi and something more dangerous.

I put all my items in the trays and was about to walk through the scanner and thought… just in case this time I will mention I have an insulin pump. The woman on the other side said that’s fine come through. I walked through and didn’t beep she shrugged her shoulders and made a hand gesture to keep walking.

Then the usual story of both my trays of luggage being scanned and pushed to the side. Typical!
